The Ranch at Rock Creek is located in western Montana, within three hours of four large airports: Missoula, Butte, Bozeman, and Helena. The Ranch can accommodate helicopter travel, and guests may also fly into private airports in Philipsburg, Missoula, Anaconda, and Butte. A ranch driver and private vehicle provide transportation between your arrival airport and the lodge, and guests are also welcome to drive their rental or personal vehicle to The Ranch.
The town of Philipsburg has a small medical center, pharmacy, and grocery store. Regional medical facilities are located in downtown Missoula, 100 miles away. The Ranch has Verizon cell boosters placed intermittently on the property and there is Wi-Fi service throughout the buildings. Landlines are available in every accommodation. If guests forget any essentials or need to pick up a prescription, ranch drivers are available to make runs into town.
Temperatures can drop dramatically from daytime to evening. The lodge’s mile-high altitude means that humidity is always low.
There is no dress code on The Ranch. Common dinner attire includes jeans, boots, and button-down shirts. Comfortable and durable outdoor clothing is recommended for activities and excursions. Pack clothes that can be layered, regardless of the season, as well as comfortable shoes and a waterproof option for changing weather throughout the day. A hat, sunglasses, and a mid-weight outer layer are always helpful.
A selection of hiking and cowboy boots, rain gear and winter jackets, snow pants, hats, and gloves are available at the activities center for all guests to borrow. The on-site mercantile also has a selection of outdoor apparel and accessories for purchase.
This is a family-friendly lodge with numerous activities planned especially for children and teenagers. Many of the rooms and cabins at The Ranch at Rock Creek are configured for larger groups, and children age 4 and under are welcome to share a room with adults free of charge. Some accommodations can house up to 12 people—the Historic Barn even features bunk beds built right into the old stables. The trained staff at the Little Grizzlies Kids Club organize hands-on discovery activities, arts and crafts, and pony rides for kids while parents relax or explore on their own. The Granite Lodge Dining Room and Blue Canteen are informal and offer a children's menu. Family pets are also welcome.
