Head into the canyons to explore miles of trails, or take a complimentary shuttle ride to Aliso Beach to enjoy the golden sands for which Southern California is famous. Golf enthusiasts can enjoy the nine-hole Ben Brown’s Golf Course, where speedy greens make for a delightful, inviting game. After an invigorating day of sports, swimming, and other activities, relax at the lodge’s Sycamore Spa, which spans over 3,000 square feet and features a 24-hour fitness center.

Laguna is renowned for its beautiful beaches, which stretch for seven miles along the coast and provide a scenic spot for every mood, whether you’re seeking a volleyball game at Main Beach or snorkeling at Divers Cove. The coast is also laced with pristine tide pools that are ripe for exploring. The Lodge offers a complimentary shuttle to nearby Aliso Beach, and beach chairs and towels are also provided.


With some 15,000 acres of trails between Aliso and Wood Canyons Park, Crystal Cove State Park, and Laguna Wilderness Park, Laguna Beach is an adventure lover’s playground. Head out on the trails to go running or hiking amid a rugged canyon landscape.

Family Programs

From weekly game nights on the patio to free drop-in family golf clinics on weekends, the lodge hosts an array of family-friendly activities throughout the week. During summer, the popular Kids Night Out on Saturday evenings (at additional cost) lets kids make new friends while giving parents an opportunity to enjoy dinner and free time on their own.

Fitness Classes

Complimentary fitness classes are available on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Connect with your natural surroundings during a yoga-inspired stretching class beside the pool, or head to the fitness center for cardio-sculpt circuit training.

Leisure Activities

Go for a nature walk on the lodge’s grounds or tour the garden, enjoy a bocce or sand volleyball game, and enjoy live music on the patio after sundown.


On Friday evenings, peer through high-powered telescopes during a guided stargazing activity that will have you marveling at the celestial wonders of SoCal.

Birds of Prey Educational Class

Learn about local species of raptors and other birds that inhabit the canyons through an interactive experience presented Saturday mornings.

Junior Ranger Program

During the summer, kids ages 6-13 are invited to take part in a Junior Rangers Program, which features guided interactive workshops from Wednesday through Saturday focused on wildlife, sustainability, and appreciation of nature’s wonders. Workshops include topics such as “Bees and Bugs,” “Creatures of the Canyon,” and “Birds of Prey.” Daily lunch, snacks, and souvenirs are included in the cost.

Mountain Biking

Organized through a local outfitter, mountain bike rentals include transportation to and from the Aliso and Wood Canyons trailhead. Trail suggestions are provided to help you get the most out of your ride, and guided mountain biking tours are also available.


Set out on a kayaking excursion to explore the craggy coves of Laguna Beach, where sea lions occasionally make an appearance, or try stand-up paddleboarding or surfing for the first time. The local outfitter La Vida Laguna offers guided kayak and paddleboard tours, as well as lessons.

Dolphin and Whale Watching Safari

Take to the waters of the Pacific in search of magnificent gray whales, blue whales, fin whales, humpbacks, orcas, and five species of dolphins, depending on the season. Setting out daily from Dana Point, Captain Dave’s popular, high-tech catamarans come equipped with underwater viewing pods to provide up-close encounters with the creatures of the deep, while onboard naturalists illuminate the marine life you see.

Painting Classes

Follow in the time-honored artistic tradition of Laguna Beach and try your hand at painting during a class at the lodge, led by a local artist on Saturday evenings.


Carved into the walls of Aliso and Woods Canyons and edged by stone pine and eucalyptus trees, the 9-hole, Par 32 Ben Brown’s Golf Course—named after one of the resort’s original owners—offers a serene playing experience that rivals Southern California’s most beautiful courses. Here, guests can enjoy a fun, inviting game with lovely views at every turn. The lodge’s golf program is geared for all levels and ages, with a popular three-club barefoot tournament, family drop-in clinics on Saturdays, private lessons, and more. In addition, a well-stocked golf shop features golf equipment, apparel, and rentals. The price of each golf round depends on the tee time selected.

Laguna Canyon Winery

The family-owned Laguna Canyon Winery produces award-winning artisan wines that are celebrated throughout Southern California and beyond. Visit the winery’s main tasting room to sample its signature assortment of hand-crafted boutique wines.


With over 100 art galleries and art studios, Laguna Beach both embraces and showcases its origins an artist colony. The city also honors its history with more than 80 works of public art, from murals to sculptures to uniquely-designed benches. In addition, local walking tours and art festivals are popular ways to experience the city’s rich cultural life.

The local organization Laguna Beach Walks offers fun and informative self-guided walking tours featuring the history of Laguna Beach—perfect for those who want to delve deeper into this coastal artist colony. And the diverse art scene takes center stage year-round with the First Thursdays Art Walk, an educational monthly event organized by the Laguna Beach art community.

Laguna Beach is renowned for its arts festivals, many of which take place in the summer. Two of the most popular, the Sawdust Art and Craft Festival and the Pageant of the Masters, both draw visitors from around the country.

Laguna Playhouse

Dine on classic comfort food dishes with a twist, like pork chops with sweet potato hash and fennel, and tomato and beer braised short ribs. These are just a few of the culinary creations of Chef de Cuisine Kyle St. John, who crafts an ever-changing menu of seasonally-inspired dishes, with many ingredients harvested from the restaurant’s half-acre garden. Between meals, enjoy a handcrafted cocktail or microbrew at the lively poolside Pond Bar, or grab a bite to go at Ben’s Pantry, the lodge’s outdoor café where the daily menu includes sandwiches, pastries, and coffee. In-room dining is also available throughout the day.

Spanning over 3,000 square feet, Sycamore Spa offers a deep-relaxation oasis for guests, where they can indulge in all manner of massages, facials, and wellness treatments. Step inside this peaceful canyon bungalow and surrender yourself to one of the spa’s four treatment rooms, which make the most of natural sunlight and soothing ocean breezes. The coastal-inspired offerings incorporate indigenous herbs and plants, many of which can be found in the lodge’s own garden, along with a unique blend of botanical oils, marine salts, and vitamin-rich organic seaweed.
