Storfjord’s closest airport is a 45-minute drive by car, in the port city of Ålesund. The Ålesund airport receives direct flights from several major European hubs, including Amsterdam, Copenhagen, and Oslo. Transfers from the airport to the lodge—either by vehicle or helicopter—can be arranged at an extra cost. Guests are welcome to dock their boats at Storfjord’s private quay.
The hotel offers three rooms that are wheelchair accessible. There is small medical facility located 10 minutes away by car, and the larger hospital in Ålesund is a 30-minute drive. All hotel staff are first aid- and CPR-certified.
Winter is the predominant season in the Norwegian fjord lands, with cold temperatures arriving in October and lasting well into April. July, and August are the best months for warm-weather activities such as hiking, fishing, and boating; while snow sports can be enjoyed between October and April.
Travel in Norway requires plenty of layers and a pair of good walking shoes. Lightweight wool or fleece clothing is recommended, along with waterproof rain gear and warm socks. If you are traveling in the winter, prepare for cold temperatures with a warm coat, hat, scarf, gloves, and weatherproof shoes.
Children of all ages are welcome at Storfjord. Extra beds can be added to any accommodation upon request.
