Your experience at the lodge will be tailored to your interests. The sample itinerary below was designed for National Geographic travelers and can be customized as you wish. Some experiences featured in this itinerary incur an additional cost.

  • Pay a visit to a nearby farm where much of the fresh produce used in Kapari’s kitchen is sourced. Meet the farmer, learn about his organic growing techniques, and sample a variety of seasonal fruit and vegetables (National Geographic Exclusive).
  • Cruise the caldera on a chartered sailing excursion.
  • Walk on ancient paths along the cliffs overlooking the caldera to nearby villages.
  • Visit the famous archaeological site at Akrotiri and see the ash-preserved ruins of a Minoan Bronze Age settlement.

Day 1—Arrive Santorini, Greece

Upon arrival, get settled in your whitewashed home away from home. Walk to nearby Fira—the capital of Santorini—following an ancient cliff-side path along the caldera. Enjoy sweeping views and whitewashed Cycladic architecture as you explore the vibrant village, then stroll back to the lodge. Tonight, savor an à la carte meal of locally sourced Mediterranean fare at Kapari’s award-winning restaurant.

Day 2—A Greek Feast for the Senses

Wake up to a generous breakfast overlooking the caldera. Then head to Akrotiri to explore its famous archaeological excavation, where an ancient volcanic eruption preserved the frescoed ruins of this Minoan Bronze Age settlement. Continue your explorations on a farm visit to discover where much of the lodge restaurant’s produce is grown. Soak up the Santorini sun on one of its black or red sand beaches, or explore the picturesque village of Oia, where blue-domed churches preside over a maze of narrow paths. Indulge in a restorative shiatsu massage at one of Santorini’s spas, or gaze out over the caldera from the lodge’s infinity pool. This evening, get in on Santorini’s most popular spectator sport—sunset hunting—as the sky casts a rosy hue over the whitewashed buildings stacked up the cliff.

Day 3—Cruise the Caldera/Depart

Start your morning with breakfast and a gorgeous view. Then opt to charter a boat or join a cruise and sail around the caldera. Enjoy a tour of Santorini’s traditional vineyards and sample the island’s famous wines. Head back to Fira to pick up any souvenirs, and get one last glimpse of the local scene over a drink at a local cafe.
