Petit St. Vincent has made it possible to explore the island and its coastal waters every way you can think of: by glass-bottom kayak, snorkel, fitness trail, or simply by changing which beach you relax on. There are also plenty of ways to explore beyond the island so that you can make the most of your Caribbean experience, whether you choose to dive or snorkel renowned reefs, sail a sloop, or learn how to kite surf, among many other available activities.
See our sample itinerary describing how you would experience this lodge during a 7-day stay.
The following experiences are included in the cost of your stay.
The lodge is stocked with a fleet of vessels for exploring the coast—and boatmen who can teach you how best to use them. Paddle around the island in a glass-bottom kayak or on a paddleboard, or take to the open water in a sea kayak. Sail a Sunfish or a Hobie Cat, or go windsurfing with a state-of-the-art windsurfing board that’s light, stable, and perfect for even a beginner to use.
With the Atlantic on one side and the Caribbean on the other, snorkelers encounter all manner of fish and coral in the Grenadines. Set out with your mask and fins right from the beach and enter a world of sea turtles, parrotfish, and brightly colored corals.
The beaches on the Caribbean side of the island are further from the main lodge and are equipped with hammocks and shelters secluded by tropical flora. Shower and restroom facilities are available here, and the staff passes by regularly to pick up your orders for food or other refreshments.
Take a short cruise to a wisp of a sandspit known as Petit St. Richardson, and enjoy swimming, snorkeling, and sunning surrounded by shimmering turquoise waters. The lodge kitchen will provide a picnic lunch and drinks if you wish.
The highest point on PSV is Marni Hill, which tops out at 275 feet. Follow a marked trail to the top to take in fantastic views of the surrounding islands. Request a picnic lunch to take along if you'd like.
Get your blood moving on the island’s 20-station, self-guided exercise and running trail. Suitable for athletes or aspiring athletes, the trail combines a walk or jog through the woods and along the beach with stretching and muscle-toning exercises. Free weights are also available for guests.
Pick up rackets and balls at the front office and hit the court during the day or at night—the court is lit for nighttime use. Make sure to reserve the court in advance.
The following experiences are offered at an additional cost.
Jean-Michel Cousteau, son of legendary explorer Jacques Cousteau, is involved in conservation projects on PSV and established the island’s five-star PADI dive center. Novices can get certified here, and beginners and advanced divers can arrange one- and two-tank dives at nearby reefs. The dive masters can introduce diving basics to children, teaching them to “breathe” underwater and taking a few easy practice runs.
A traditional Windward Islands sloop, 49-foot Beauty was built just across the way in Petite Martinique. Join skipper Jeff for a day under the billowing sails, cruising to neighboring islands, coral coves, and the Tobago Cays. Beauty accommodates up to six guests and can be chartered privately or shared. Stop for a picnic or a snorkel en route, or enjoy a delicious barbecue on board featuring freshly caught fish or lobster and, if you wish, local rum. Take a turn at the helm and try your hand at tacking or jibing, and soak up the pure, timeless exhilaration of taking to the seas under sail.
PSV has three yachts and powerboats available for guests to charter for a full or half day. Accommodating from 6 to 10 passengers, these boats are a fantastic way to discover the secluded coves and wild cays of the islands—stopping to fish or snorkel as you wish.
Cast your line from a fishing charter for a chance to catch Spanish mackerel, giant barracuda, mahimahi, and more. With luck, you can bring back your own dinner! Fishing trips generally depart in the early morning or late afternoon and last four hours.
Head out beyond the reefs at PSV on an excursion aboard L’Aventure to some of the best reefs in the area. Explore the marine life of Tobago Cays Marine Park on outings designed to appeal to kids and adults.
A kite-surfing center on Union Island provides a range of lessons and clinics for beginners or advanced kite surfers.
On Canouan Island, a 45-minute boat ride away, you can take in a round at an 18-hole championship golf course designed by Jim Fazio. Set on slopes at the edge of the sea, the Grenadines Estate Golf Club was once rated one of the best by the Robb Report.
Each of the lodge's two restaurants provide distinct dining experiences for guests, but you may choose to eat just about anywhere on the island you please. Set on the hillside on a terrace overlooking the harbor, the Main Pavilion Restaurant and Bar serves up five-star meals in an atmosphere of relaxed elegance. Guests trade in their shorts and tank tops for slacks or skirts (but no jackets are necessary) and are treated to a delightful à la carte three-course menu that changes daily.
For a more casual experience, the Beach Restaurant and Goaties Bar offers an excellent selection of lighter fare and regular barbecues, which you can enjoy with bare feet in the sand. Both restaurants balance Caribbean influences with international cuisine and offer guests an extensive collection of wines from their cellar.
One of the beauties of meals at PSV is that they can happen anywhere: the staff will bring breakfast to you on your private patio or deliver a picnic if you happen to be enjoying the beaches on the Caribbean side of the island. The chef will happily arrange personalized meals or a candlelit dinner at your cottage. No matter where you eat, the seafood is locally caught, the lodge’s chickens lay all the eggs, and much of the produce is grown in the island’s gardens.
Tucked in among the trees on the slope of the island’s highest hill, the Hillside Spa draws upon Balinese healing rituals in their massages and treatments. Using herbs, spices, and plants from Asia and the Caribbean, the Balinese therapists offer a wide range of treatments, including warm stone massage, aromatherapy, reflexology, facials, couple’s massages, and more. A relaxation deck allows you to meditate or simply find quiet surrounded by lush forest.
