Twinkle Valley: Plan Your Stay

How to Get There

Twinkle Valley is accessible from Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport. National Geographic Expeditions guests are provided with a private, complimentary transfer via a Tesla car from the Chengdu airport to the lodge, which takes approximately 75 minutes. Complimentary transfer arrangements from nearby Dujiangyan Bullet Train station also available.

What to Expect

The lodge accommodations and facilities are linked by unpaved footpaths that may be difficult to navigate for those who have mobility issues or trouble with stairs. The lodge provides electric golf carts for transportation between facilities. The nearest hospital is in Dujiangyan, about thirty minutes away.

Weather and Seasons

Known for its humid, subtropical climate, the Dujiangyan area of Sichuan has four distinct seasons: a short and warm spring; a long, hazy summer; a cool autumn; and a brisk, foggy winter. The weather is relatively mild throughout the year, with an annual average temperate of 60 degrees. The rainy season, which usually lasts from July to August, brings occasional monsoons.

What to Bring

There is no dress code at the lodge and guests are encouraged to dress casually and comfortably. Pack in layers appropriate to the season, including a rain jacket; and be sure to bring hiking boots, sunscreen, and a hat.

Traveling with Family

Twinkle Valley welcomes families, and children can take part in many kid-friendly activities offered at the lodge, from dumpling-making classes to bamboo handicrafts. In addition, childcare services are available through the lodge’s sustainably minded “green school,” which provides an educational program for kids while parents enjoy time to explore on their own.

A Note About Travel to Twinkle Valley

Please note that Twinkle Valley will be closed through the end of February due to the 2019 novel coronavirus.
