What to Expect

This remote property is spread across a mountain peak and is not handicap accessible. First aid kits are available on site, and the closest medical center is 45 minutes away in Sa Pa town. Guest accommodations are not equipped with televisions or Wi-fi; and while Wi-fi is available in the main building of the hotel, the connection can be spotty.

Weather and Seasons

Unlike the country’s steamy tropical lowlands, the mountains of northern Vietnam experience four seasons. Summers here are mild, while the winters get cold enough to accommodate snow. The highest amounts of rainfall occur between May and September, while the dry months run from October through April. Fog and clouds are common here, regardless of the season. The best months for trekking coincide with spring (March through May) and fall (September through November).

What to Bring

People primarily visit Sa Pa to trek, and guests who plan to get out on the trail should pack proper equipment, including comfortable walking or hiking shoes, hat and sunscreen, a day pack, rain gear, and plenty of layers for ease in adjusting to the region’s changing weather conditions. Cool, and sometimes cold, nights make warm clothes an essential packing item throughout the year. Also bring along a bathing suit so you can take advantage of the lodge’s incredible infinity pool.

Traveling with Family

With facilities designed especially for younger guests, Topas Ecolodge is a family-friendly lodge. The hilltop pool has a shallow section for kids, the property features a playground, and children’s bikes are available for families. Accommodations can be outfitted with a children’s bed or baby cot upon request.
