Shinta Mani Wild is located to the southwest of the Cambodian capital, Phnom Penh—a three-hour trip by car. Road transfers from Phnom Penh and the coastal town of Sihanoukville (2.5 hours) are included in the cost of your stay. The lodge can accommodate helicopter transfers from both Sihanoukville and Phnom Penh (additional cost).
The lodge has an on-site clinic with a full-time nurse, and all other staff have received basic first-aid training. The nearest hospital is a little over an hour away by helicopter. Please note that the property is not wheelchair accessible and may not be suitable for guests with certain disabilities.
The Cambodian jungle sees a tropical climate year-round; however, small fluctuations in temperature, as well as variations in rainfall, make for unique experiences across the seasons. In the earliest months of the year, chilly evenings mean sundowners around the campfire, and low rivers make mountain biking and hiking deep into the jungle more accessible. The mists and monsoons arrive in June, enlivening the 17 rivers and streams that wind through the area and bringing birds to feast on fruit-bearing trees. Orchid blooms are at their most beautiful in the late summer and early fall, and November signals the calming of waterfalls—and the beginning of river-swimming season.
The lodge encourages guests to dress for adventure. Bring plenty of activewear, including long pants and hiking boots, as well as any accessories you might need to participate in water sports and cocktail hours—or both at the same time!
Shinta Mani Wild welcomes children ages 10 and above. The jungle is a natural playground—and classroom—and dedicated naturalist guides accompany every excursion to interpret the wonders encountered in the rainforest. With kids in tow, you can hike past a herd of wild elephants, swim beneath rushing waterfalls, swing from tree to tree on a zip line, and much more.
