What to Expect

Nosy Komba is a remote island without roads or banks, and electricity is supplied by solar power and generators. The closest cash machines are in Hell-ville, the main town on the nearby island of Nosy Be, a 35-minute boat ride away. The lodge accepts Visa and Mastercard credit cards, euros, Malagasy ariary (the local currency). Lodge staff speaks Malagasy, French, English, Italian, and Spanish.

Tsara Komba does its best to accommodate those with mobility limitations, but guests should be comfortable with stairs.

A course of malaria prevention medication is recommended. The government of Madagascar requires proof of yellow fever vaccination for visitors arriving from yellow fever-affected countries.

Weather and Seasons

Nosy Komba enjoys sunshine year-round. The island’s micro-climate ensures 320 days of pleasant weather each year, and the water is always warm (typically ranging from 78 to 84°F (26 to 29°C), depending on the season). January – March is considered the rainy season in northwestern Madagascar.
