Day 1—Arrive at Sayari Camp, Tanzania

Fly to the northern Serengeti by light aircraft, landing at a bush airstrip close to the camp. Your safari guide will meet you here and take you on a short game drive to Sayari Camp, stopping along the way to observe wildlife you encounter. Settle in to the camp and enjoy a leisurely lunch under the shade of an acacia tree. In the late afternoon, when the wildlife begins to become more active, set off on a game drive with an expert guide, looking for pods of hippos in the Mara River, herds of elephants crossing the plains, and prides of lions lounging on the rocky kopjes. Enjoy a cool sundowner drink (a safari tradition) as the sun sets, before returning to camp for drinks around the campfire and a delicious three-course meal served under the African stars.

Day 2—On safari

Every day on safari is different, changing with the seasons and the resident and migratory wildlife and birdlife. At Sayari, game viewing is timed around when the wildlife is most active, in the early morning and late afternoon. During the heat of the day, guests return to the comfort of the camp for a siesta, a swim in the pool, or a relaxing spa treatment; and enjoy a light lunch in a shady spot. Today, set off on a guided walking safari in the morning, accompanied by an expert guide and park ranger, searching for wildlife from their tracks in the earth and taking the time to identify birds and learn about the smaller details of the bush. In the afternoon, set out on a game drive along the banks of the Mara River, stopping to see giraffes strutting across the savanna or a herd of zebra congregate around a waterhole to drink.

Day 3—On safari

This morning you can explore further afield on your early morning game drive, seeking out leopards lounging in the shady boughs of the trees or cheetah stalking their prey through the tall grasses. Rather than returning to camp, you will enjoy a bush breakfast (Nat Geo Exclusive) before returning to camp in the late morning. There is time to relax before lunch and your afternoon game drive. Share stories of your day’s adventures with other guests at the bar before dinner, and spend your final night dining under the stars on the deck, surrounded by the magical sounds of the bush at night.

Day 4—Depart

After breakfast, transfer to the airstrip for your light aircraft flight to your next destination.
