andBeyond Benguerra Island is accessed via a short, scenic helicopter ride from the Vilanculos airport. Vilanculos receives daily flights from Johannesburg, South Africa and the Mozambican capital of Maputo.
The lodge is situated in a malarial area, and it is recommended that guests consult their physician or travel clinic regarding malaria prophylaxis.
andBeyond Benguerra Island requires travel insurance be taken out prior to departure. Insurance plans should cover medical emergencies, as well as cancellation of travel arrangements. The lodge provides guests with emergency evacuation insurance.
A travel visa is required to enter Mozambique. Visas are not available upon arrival and should be obtained prior to departure. In order to gain entry, ensure that your passport has at least three consecutive blank visa pages.
If you are traveling to Mozambique via a country or countries with risk of yellow fever transmission, you are required to provide immigration officials with an international certificate documenting your vaccination. For a list of applicable countries, please see the CDC website.
The lodge is not wheelchair accessible.
Mozambique is warm and sunny year-round. The summer runs from October through February, bringing hot days and warm nights, with average daytime temperatures ranging from 77 to 93°F. Between November and March, afternoon rain showers are common, with peak rainfall occurring in January and February. During the winter, from March through August, daytime temperatures are mild (70 to 80°F) and rain is uncommon.
Pack beachwear and sportswear, plus any gear you would need for exploring the area on horseback, boat, or kayak. Please note that the helicopter that flies to andBeyond Benguerra Island has luggage restrictions; each person’s luggage may weigh no more than 33 pounds. Dinners are casual and complimentary laundry service is available, so guests are encouraged to pack lightly.
