How to Get There

andBeyond Benguerra Island is accessed via short, scenic helicopter ride from the Vilanculos airport. Vilanculos receives daily flights from Johannesburg, South Africa and the Mozambican capital of Maputo.

What to Expect

Travel visas re required to enter Mozambique and should be obtained prior to departure. If you are traveling to Mozambique via a country or countries with risk of yellow fever transmission, you must provide immigration officials with an international certificate documenting your vaccination. The lodge is situated in a malarial area, and it is recommended that guests consult their physician or travel clinic regarding malaria prophylaxis.

Weather and Seasons

Mozambique is warm and sunny year-round. The summer runs from October through February, bringing hot days and warm nights. Between November and March, afternoon rain showers are common, with peak rainfall occurring in January and February. During the winter, from March through August, daytime temperatures are mild and rain is uncommon.

What to Bring

Pack beachwear and sportswear, plus any gear you would need for exploring the area on horseback, boat, or kayak. Dinners are casual and complimentary laundry service is available, so guests are encouraged to pack lightly.
