Siwash Lake Wilderness Resort: Plan Your Stay

Located in British Columbia, Canada

How to Get There

Siwash Lake Wilderness Resort is located in British Columbia, within a two-hour drive of the regional airports at Kamloops and Williams Lake. Ground transfers from either of these airports can be arranged, and helicopter transfers are available from Kamloops. Floatplane charters fly directly to the ranch from the international airports in Vancouver and Whistler. Those traveling by private jet can fly via South Cariboo Regional Airport and transfer to the ranch via helicopter. Guests are welcome to drive their rentals or personal vehicles to Siwash. Please note that navigation tools (i.e., GPS) are not useful on or near the property, making maps and directions necessary tools for those who plan on driving to the ranch.

What to Expect

There are no supply stores near Siwash Lake Wilderness Resort. While the lodge is well stocked with food and equipment, items forgotten during packing cannot easily be acquired. Cellular service is available for smartphones with 3G networks and can only be accessed from one location on the property—on the ridge near the luxury tents. There is a ranch phone that is available for important calls. Satellite Internet services and a guest computer are offered in the ranch house library.

Weather and Seasons

The lodge is open June to September. Temperatures can be hot during the summer months, while cold and wet conditions are not uncommon in early June and late September. Conditions change quickly on the Cariboo plateau, so come prepared for all types of weather.

What to Bring

While there is no dress code at the ranch, smart-casual attire is typically worn at dinner. Since weather conditions can be unpredictable even in the summer months, plan accordingly and pack clothes that can be layered. The lodge provides fishing equipment and licenses, swim towels, and boots and helmets for guests who do not have their own riding apparel.

Traveling with Family

Siwash welcomes children of all ages, and all of its suites and tents can comfortably accommodate families. In July and August, young children are invited to participate in the Free-Range Kids program, which offers stimulating educational content combined with time for fascinating free play. The ranch’s meadows, forests, and waterfalls create a natural playground where kids can interact with wildlife and learn about the environment. Take a look at some of the activities provided for kids below. Please note: Siwash is adult-oriented in September.

  • Horse care and riding
  • Water activities on Lake Siwash, including swimming, kayaking, and stand-up paddleboarding
